Job Description
The Web/UX Designer supports the enterprise-wide University website as well as select applications including but not limited to the Go OHIO student application, student visit applications leveraged by enrollment management, and orientation applications. The position is responsible for designing and maintaining University web sites and applications that comply with branding standards, accessibility guidelines, and usability expectations set forth by the University in an effort to optimize the user experience. Using HTML and CSS, the successful candidate will work with team members and partners across the University to identify project requirements, assist with technical design, implementation, and maintenance of web sites and web site features.
While this position is located in Athens, Ohio, fully remote work is an option for those who are able to work during our normal business hours on eastern standard time. The chosen candidate must also travel to the Athens campus at least once per quarter. Dedicated UCM digital team office space is available on campus for a hybrid work environment, if desired.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in custom front-end website design
- Demonstrated advanced experience with several coding languages, including HTML and CSS
- Familiarity with designing within a content management system
- Demonstrated experience using Adobe XD
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment to create engaging web designs for various demographic constituencies
- Ability to adhere to brand standards in web design
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple milestones and projects efficiently
- Professional written and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in a project management system
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with designing for the Drupal and/or Wordpress content management systems
- Experience working on a scrum website development team/project, utilizing agile methodology
- Experience using code version control, such as Git
- Experience with application design and/or UX direction
- Experience with user testing and/or A/B testing platforms to drive UX decisions
- Experience working in the higher education field

Pay Rate
Target hiring range for this role is $58,972 to $68,556. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for the position, while also considering internal equity.
