 JOB SCOPE
  
  Under minimal supervision, responsible for Planning new footprint expansion launches on the Voice Core network and routing platforms. Specifically responsible for performing in a Network Traffic and Capacity function in the following areas: SONUS PSX switching platforms, Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) trunking Gateways (GSX and UMG platforms), OCx and DSx circuits, packet-based trunking such as IP SBCs (Session Border Controllers). Able to resolve the vast majority of telephony network routing and transport issues without assistance. Provides troubleshooting assistance to entry level & mid-level switch engineers in a support center environment. Able to direct the trouble shooting efforts during major outages.
  
  
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  -  Evaluates, coordinates, and supports all core telephony planning activities to include voice hardware capacity, on-net/off-net transport facilities and new rate center expansions. 
 
  - Demonstrates IP knowledge, L2, L3, TCP, UDP and telephony equivalents. Ability to plan IP connectivity to support voice traffic peering arrangements.
 
  -  Plans SS7, ISUP, and SIP routing techniques unassisted. Assists and coordinates the efforts of other TOE I/II in planning and troubleshooting SS7, ISUP, and SIP.
 
  -  Follows established guidelines for telephone network daily health check procedures as it pertains to capacity and determines fix action during outage situations.
 
  -  Prepares detailed Switch Planning and Routing documentation for PSTN call flow.
 
  -  Reviews and guides other TOE's in regional network plans for implementation.
 
  -  Assumes a leadership role during major outages, coordinating not only within the Telephony group but between functional areas.
 
  -  Assumes a leadership role in all Residential and Business telephony issues, coordinating not only within the Telephony group but between functional areas.
 
  -  Documents and assists other TOE's with documenting switch and telephone network architecture and works with Finance verticals to drive cost out of the network.
 
  -  Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
 
 
  BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
 
  - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering or related field, and / or equivalent work experience
 
  -  Minimum five (5) years of experience with wireline, wireless, or broadband telephony
 
  -  Minimum three (3) years of Data network experience
 
  -  Must be able to work the following shift: Hybrid 8am-5pm M-F 
 
 
 ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
 
  -  Advanced knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Physical Media (Multimode Fiber, Single-mode Fiber, UTP, DS3, DS1 and DS0 etc.), Telephony switching, routing, Ethernet and TDM transport technologies and protocols
 
  -  Experience with network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
 
  -  TCP/IP and the OSI Model
 
  -  Experience in network devices and basic network appliances
 
  -  Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly.
 
 
  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
  -  Knowledge of company products and services
 
  -  Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Nokia, Metaswitch, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)

 The pay for this position has a salary range of 
 
$78,900.00 to $139,500.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
