Job Description:


As a Specialist, Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for the hardware/software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation of technical products and systems. You will also be focused on Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and be responsible for MBSE across a business area that focuses on radar/RF/sensors programs for our US Warfighters.


The Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division is a part of L3Harris’ Agile Development Group and specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.



Essential Functions:


  • Define requirements, flow-down and traceability for complex electronic systems.

  • Use system design synthesis of simple systems

  • Develop use cases

  • Perform design verification testing efforts including lab, chamber, ground, and captive flight tests.

  • Analyze data from design verification test efforts

  • Use judgment to plan cost and schedule of minor activities

  • Develop and run simulations and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various environments

  • Present results during internal and external program meetings

  • Develop, track and present technical metrics

  • Support risk assessment and development of mitigation strategies

  • Implementation of MBSE artifacts and Digital Analysis Tools
  • Perform trade studies on a variety of system issues and components

  • Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required

  • Up to 10% travel may be required

  • Other duties as required


Qualifications:


  • U.S. citizen

  • Active DoD clearance with current 6 year update

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or science

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related engineering field with some systems engineering experience

  • Experience in design, development and/or testing of radar and/or other RF system

  • Experience with radar system components including antenna, receiver, exciter, and processor

  • Experience with requirements definition, flow-down and traceability

  • Defense industry experience

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products


Preferred Additional Skills:


  • Masters degree in engineering or science or related field and/or equivalent experience desired

  • Working knowledge of military standards

  • Familiarity with guided weapons and/or weapon systems
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite, specifically Confluence

  • DOORs experience

  • Proficient with MATLAB

  • Proficient in Python

  • Previous experience in a Model-Based System Engineering environment

  • Proficient with MBSE tools (Magic Draw or Rational Rhapsody)

  • Proficiency in SysML and DODAF/UPDM/UAF
  • Implement current processes and methodologies being utilized on programs for the development of program level data threads and system models

  • Exposure to architecture development for the integrated systems and test model

  • Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
