Job Title: Community Safety Technician

Compensation: $22.00 - $25.00 / hour

FSLA Status: Full Time/Non Exempt

Reports to: Community Safety Supervisor

Summary of the Position:

The Community Safety Technician is responsible for providing residential safety and security services for the Facility. Community Safety Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment in the facility, making sure residents’ rights are honored while creating a drug free, violence free, and respectful space.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducting internal patrols to ensure access points are properly secured and to ensure protection of property and people with a high degree of attentiveness to details and safety.
  • Monitoring property to detect unauthorized trespassers and provides a professional deterrence and calming presence.
  • Monitoring surveillance cameras to assess external environment and potential risks
  • Preventing and detecting theft or misappropriation of goods, money, or other items of value.
  • Protecting individuals and property from harm.
  • Responding to emergency situations and implements emergency response procedures.
  • Providing assistance to people in need.
  • Investigating incidents.
  • Writing clear, detailed, accurate reports to document what was observed during every shift.
  • Answering the after-hours phone
  • Cross training with NOC shift duties as appropriate
  • Interacting positively with all individuals with whom there is contact, encouraging a positive work environment for all staff and a positive living environment for all residents.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be willing to participate in employer paid licensing programs (including CPR, First Aid and De-Escalation) as needed. Basic typing skills essential along with basic knowledge of PC's and word processing software, preferably in Microsoft Windows environment.

Language Skills

Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Abilities:

Ability to solve practical problems involving several variables in different situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Work Environment

The environment is characteristic of a facility in which healthcare is provided to the frail elderly and individuals requiring additional assistance due to special needs. The noise level is usually moderate. The location of the facility is in Old Town Portland on the corner of NW 6thand Couch.

CHANGES DURING COVID:

As an assisted living facility that provides 24/7 care for residents, most staff positions are required to be onsite. Macdonald Residence is highly committed to maintaining a COVID free environment.

Macdonald Residence has a robust COVID-19 protocol in place that includes the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), sanitization regimens, and other activities to assure appropriate social distancing when needed.
