JOB DESCRIPTION
(Contingent upon funding)-
THIS IS A LONG TERM SUB POSITION to fill a temporary vacancy that will finish on that last day of the 2022-2023 school year.
Under direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor, the LTS (Long Term Substitute) will gain essential and meaningful teaching experience. Excellent performance in this capacity will position a teacher well to compete for permanent teaching positions in Providence Schools and elsewhere.
Compensation and benefits for this position are equal to the compensation and benefits of a regular teacher including salary according to the Providence teacher salary scale (including during school vacation) on a step determined by previous teaching experience (credit given for experience in accredited schools and/or in a certified capacity). Other benefits include paid sick days, generous health benefits, and paid professional development.
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.

Sp. Ed. PK-12 Severe Profound with ESL or All Grades Sp. Ed. - Severe Intellectual Disability Grades PK-12 with ESL
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES
- Collect, complete and analyze ESY data both as written documentation and also input into web-based program.
- Implement school to home strategies to maintain consistent attendance at ESY program.
- To implement effective teaching strategies for students with moderate/severe disabilities, including techniques and assistive technology used with the diagnosis of Pervasive Developmental delay (PDD)/PECS and severe behavioral/emotional disability.
- To implement the AAGSE curriculum in all areas of instruction at the elementary school level for students with severe to profound academic delays.
- To coordinate Life Skills activities and teaching strategies with teacher assistants and any/all support and related service personnel consistent with their IEP.
- To coordinate a parent component and work with families of students enrolled in this program for effective carry-over of activities from school to home.
- To coordinate with appropriate community agencies to provide appropriate social activities for students enrolled in this program.
- To implement all activities related to self-care skills which may include diapering and feeding of students.
- Any/all duties assigned by the Director of Special Populations or Building Principal.
- To monitor student progress on all aspect of instruction and goals and objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
- Experience completing the RIAA is a preferred.
- Experience with implementing transition services and experiences preferred.
- Knowledge and experience working with students with moderate/severe disabilities including successful experience with PDD students and/or students exhibiting behavioral/emotional issues
- Extensive coursework in the area of special education of the severe/profound disabled including the diagnosis of PDD
- Knowledge of community resources and wrap-around services for students with mild to severe disabilities
- Knowledge of current research and trends on educating students with mild to severe disabilities
- Monitor daily student attendance and implement Pro-active Strategies to increase student attendance at ESY.
