Job Description

MISSION

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing solutions to eliminate waste, improve efficiency and productivity, and standardize processes. This is a key tactical and high-visibility role which impacts customer and financial performance, productivity, inventory accuracy, future business opportunities and growth. The role supports the Director of Operations in the implementation of continuous improvement projects.

KEY OUTCOMES (KPI’S)

OUTCOME: Gain in-depth understanding of current Kem Krest methods and activities

  • Understand actual monthly volumes, labor and operating expenses by site and utilizing data for improvements
  • Review production information including related production schedules, process flows, and additional specs
  • Using current KK budget reporting tools, populate with actual information / data
  • Gain deep understanding of customer requirements on front end of quoting process
  • Understand BOMs, current cost model, labor rates, overhead costing
  • Perform analysis of budget categories (focusing on large variances and corrective actions)

OUTCOME: Design control systems to minimize and resolve production issues & project costs

  • Work closely with operations, finance, sales, supply chain management & packaging for alignment
  • Create systems and plan production to ensure all products meet quality control standards
  • Develop management control systems to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient
  • Design layout of equipment and workspace
  • Create sampling procedures and designs
  • Study and rearrange org charts, material flow, and operations sequence

OUTCOME: Ownership of weekly / monthly operational efficiency metrics

  • Lines Per Hour / Errors Per Thousand Lines / On Time Delivery / Customer Action Form’s
  • Implement templates / models / visual reporting structure
  • Align with site director / management to develop key business metrics
  • Work closely with sites to understand performance shortfalls and support corrective action process

OUTCOME: Evaluate and drive continuous improvement projects

  • Develop reporting metrics on improvements and continuously revisit and edit for optimal performance
  • Evaluate accuracy of production and testing equipment, as well as effects of design changes
  • Provide support data to operations leaders, finance and supply chain management teams
  • Coordinate and participate in Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other Lean activities

STRENGTHS TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or other related field highly preferred
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office software (primarily Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical skills and presentation skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional work ethic and desire to succeed
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Experience with 6-Sigma and Lean Processes highly preferred
