Data Scientist Breeding Customer Insights
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Data Scientist Breeding Customer Insights, are to:
- Partner with domain experts (teams) in the organization to understand key challenges and business questions with regard to the Breeding pipeline’s alignment a to future customer needs and build feasible solutions that are impactful, accurate, and validated
- Be accountable for the conception, architecture, engineering, and delivery of cutting-edge data science and analytical solutions to business partners working in local and global teams
- Execute data preparation, cleansing and QA/QC of Bayer internal and third-party raw data
- Develop practical, interpretable, and automated solutions for business problems through expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, simulation, AI/ML, and optimization methodology by working in a highly interactive, team-oriented environment
- Use advanced statistical and mathematical models, machine learning algorithms, operations research techniques, and strong business acumen to deliver insight, recommendations, and innovative solutions for current and future breeding pipelines
- Design and execute optimal metrics visualization solutions § Analyze and interpret data to Bayer management and provide guidance for key strategic changes based on learnings
- Be creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to take initiative and exercise critical thinking when it comes to problem- solving
- Be an active member of the APD Emerging Technology and Customer Insights team
- Partner across peer groups as a catalyst for product and pipeline insight
- Be responsible for mentoring junior data scientists, help set strategy, identify technical gaps, apply data science acumen to unsolved business goals, and help prioritize and allocate resources
WHO YOU ARE
Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
- Bachelor’s degree, Master's or PhD in at least one of the following areas, Statistical Genetics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, Operation Research, Genomics, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or other related quantitative disciplines
- Proficient in building data models using R, Python, or other statistical and mathematical programming languages
- Creative, proactive, bold and out-of-box thinking
- Proficiency with data query, data QC, analysis, summary, and visualization
- Proficiency in Machine learning algorithms and concepts
- Experience and passion for solving analytical problems involving big data sets using quantitative approaches to generate insights from data
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-based and cross-functional team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-6 years of experience as a Data Scientist
