        Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
       
 
       
        The Costume Shop Technician (Draper), at the direction of the Costume Shop Manager, works as part of the team in the Costume Shop providing day to day support to the operations of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (The Clarice). The Costume Shop Technician (Draper) is responsible for a portion of draping, cutting, alteration, construction, or striking activities necessary for The Clarice as assigned. The Costume Shop Technician (Draper) may train and/or supervise volunteers, paid and unpaid student personnel, and contingent employees. The Costume Technician (Draper) also provides mentoring and hands-on training in costume alteration and construction to students.

         - Skill in the use of office automation software and its application; in operating manual and automated office equipment.
  
         - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to present ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; to perform mathematical computations; to present statistical material in chart and graph form.

         QUALIFICATIONS
         :
        
         
         - Bachelor’s degree in performing arts or related field preferred
  
         - 2 years of experience in costume draping for theatre, opera and dance
  
         - 3 years of experience in costume construction for theatre, opera, and dance.
  
         - Knowledge of current practices and procedures in professional performing arts costume shops.
  
         - Familiarity with current costume shop equipment and technologies.
  
         - Excellent communication, organization and management skills.
  
         - 1 year of experience running fittings for theatre, opera and dance.
  
         - 1 year of experience draping.
  
         - Knowledge of costume and fashion history.
  
         - Ability to read and interpret line drawings and renderings.
  
         - Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  
         - Advanced skills in costume construction including corsetry.
  
         - Experience in a complex performing arts setting is preferred.
  
         - Experience working in an educational environment and/or teaching.
  
         - Experience in costume design or coordination.
