Profile

A Wilhelm Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with the planning, scheduling, progress measurement, and analysis of either a single, major project or a portfolio of several smaller projects. By utilizing and understanding the policies, methods, and procedures of Project Controls and scheduling Best Practices, this position will contribute in the completion of a project on time, on budget, and with a quality that meets or exceeds Wilhelm and the customer's expectations, helping to ensure the company's success and satisfaction of a loyal customer.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the development and creation of the schedule for all phases of the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Assist with preparing contracts and revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with project team.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of project specific procedures and processes to proactively deal with the challenges that come with projects.
  • Inspect and review Bid Packages and Work by Building to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations including QA/QC.
  • Monitor the project at each phase, analyzing progress and communicating to upper management and others involved, including sub-contractors. As goals change or unexpected risks arise, amend the plan to reflect scheduling, budget and other modifications.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and advise of activities concerned with the construction and assist with the coordination of OFOI/OFCI Equipment.
  • Assist with the preparation of a deliverable schedule relative to bidding practices
  • Assist the estimating department during plan review
  • Delineate project requirements and general conditions as it relates to Project Controls and Scheduling.
  • Assist with managing the contract and complying with the project specifications.
  • Communicate any issues, and assist with the coordination of activities
  • (RFI's, PCOs, DCRs, Long Lead Submittals, Fab & Delivery based on experience) shall be included in the master schedule.
  • Identify items that have delivery dates that could impact the schedule
  • Understand and assist with Building code compliance
  • Assist with permits, identify required due dates and communicate any impacts to the schedule.
  • Assist with the development of the Phasing Plan and Logistics Plan.
  • Understand manpower operations and how it could impact the schedule and communicate potential impacts to the schedule and the success of the project.
  • Perform weekly updates, based on periodic field walks and communicate potential concerns with internal team.
  • Assist with achieving substantial completion as defined in the specifications.
  • Assist with the submission of record drawings, maintenance manuals & warranties to ensure a smooth and successful closeout.
  • Assist Operations and Project Team with issue resolutions
  • Assist with management and verification of subcontractor change orders and potential impacts to the schedule / revise sequence as required
  • Regular and reliable attendance at work
  • Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager

Computer Equipment and Software Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows - intermediate to advanced knowledge
  • Microsoft Excel - advanced knowledge
  • Microsoft Word and PowerPoint - intermediate knowledge
  • Primavera P6 Scheduling software - intermediate knowledge
  • Procore – intermediate knowledge
  • Bluebeam - intermediate knowledge

Physical Requirements

  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift office products and supplies, typically not to exceed 20 pounds.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or other related field
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the construction industry
  • Ability to interpret and retain project drawings and specifications
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of company's contracting, finance, purchasing, engineering, and controls procedures
  • Knowledge of equipment and general construction methods including but not limited to concrete, ironwork, masonry, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Working Conditions

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work environment with moderate noise; however the employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Due to varied conditions, workers must know the hazards and safety requirements of each job and must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the company's safety policies for every situation.
